Don’t You Have Better Things To Do? Transits for the week of October 7th

Welcome to the series on weekly transits, out every Monday afternoon!

Good Lord, this cardinal t-square has been something else. It’s so sensitive, so irritable, so jumpy.

When my very cardinal and boundary-challenged father called me after I specifically asked him not to (I get bad service in my house, so I have to drop everything and go plaster myself against a window to get reception, and I was cooking dinner dinner. He knows this), only to talk in gossipy circles about people I don’t know, I was breathing fire. I have a life! I have priorities! My family has to eat and if I burn this dinner they won’t! Why can’t this man take no for an answer? Why will he, without doubt, pout for a week and call everyone he knows to talk abut how ungrateful I am if I don’t answer the phone? Why does he purposely step over my boundaries just to test my loyalty? WHY do I have to play these idiot games?

I was so pissed. SO pissed. And then, I wasn’t. I vented to my partner for a few minutes, and the anger just left me. It’s silly. This is my 77-year-old father who just wants to hear his daughter’s voice. He loves me. I love him. I could hold my anger and let it poison me, or I could…not. Surely the are greater concerns in my life?

The transits for this week are all about that choice.

Tomorrow, Venus trines Mars. There’s no reason we can’t get along. Really. And if you don’t believe me, Mercury will trine Jupiter as well. Maybe a little perspective is in order, hm?

And my goodness, there most certainly are bigger concerns.

On Wednesday, Jupiter turns retrograde in Gemini. All the disparate info you’ve collected over the last several months, all the leads and possible paths and options you’ve dreamed up – well, it’s time to consider them carefully. Pare down. It’s so much fun to have a million possibilities, but it’s even better when you find what works for you. And you can’t do that unless you’re willing to choose. You don’t have to make a final decision yet. But soon you will, and now is the time to prepare.

On Friday, Pluto will turn direct in Capricorn for the last time in our lives. Times are changing, eras are shifting, and live is moving on. For those with placements at 29 degrees in cardinal signs (myself included), this is a time to think deeply about what you’ve lost, what you’re left with, and, possibly, what you’ve gained. It may seem like there’s no benefit at all, but if you dig deep enough, I think you’ll find something.

And if you’re not sure you have the capacity for that, Sunday’s transits will help. Mercury will square Pluto before entering Scorpio, giving us the wisdom to plumb the depths. And the Sun will trine Jupiter, showing us that there’s always a gift if we’re willing to find it.
