Play Dress Up, Find Freedom – Transits for the Week of November 18th

Welcome to the series on weekly transits, out every Monday afternoon!

This week is all about freedom – specifically the freedom we make for ourselves. Freedom isn’t someone else’s right to grant, and it’s not something to relinquish lightly.

Today, Mercury opposes Jupiter for the first of three times in the next six weeks or so. We have the freedom to gain perspective, to think more broadly about the world, and to understand our place in history. Living through history sucks, doesn’t it? Most of everyone who ever lived has just wanted a peaceful, happy life and to feed their families. And yet, circumstances often ask so much more of us. The times call for heroes, survivors, and caregivers. Can you heed the call?

Today is a good day to envision who you might become. In addition to Mercury opposing Jupiter, the Sun trines Neptune. Imagine the future you want to live in. Imagine the person you want to be. Try on every possible identity in your imagination and see what feels right.

Or, if you’re not up to any of that, get lost in a book. Watch a riveting documentary. Turn on a tv show that sweeps you away into a new world. But whatever you do, make sure you get a glimpse of a new perspective that captures your imagination.

You’ll need it, because tomorrow Pluto enters Aquarius for good, and a new age officially dawns. Not that we haven’t seen it already. Pluto has dipped its toe into Aquarius before, and recent events have revealed what we’ll be dealing with. This isn’t new. But it is real, here and now. No more theoreticals. No more guesses. Just reality, and figuring out how to navigate it.

On Thursday, the Sun enters Sagittarius, which means new horoscopes will be out! It also means we’ll get a boost in the collective mood. Coming off of the moody doom of Scorpio, some Sagittarian antics seem positively refreshing.

Finally, if you’re someone who prefers things a little more grounded, Friday will see Venus in Capricorn sextile a newly-direct Saturn. Dig in. Commit. Invest. And enjoy doing it. There’s enormous pleasure to be had in earthy matters. This aspect is as good for a meeting with your financial advisor as it is for a date night. Enjoy being a person, a glorious lifeform with one foot in the corporeal and the other in the ether.

It’s a grand old life, isn’t it?
