Subtle Knives and Dimension Hopping - Transits for the Week of September 23rd

Welcome to the series on weekly transits, out every Monday afternoon.

The transits for this week show a beginning, a point that allows us to forge ahead into a new situation entirely.

First, Venus enters Scorpio. There’s darkness there for certain. But does it have to be the kind that scares us? Does it have to zombie exes crawling out of the grave? Can’t it be us doing the inner work to clear our minds and hearts of old connections that do us more harm than good? Does it have to be power plays and secrets? Can’t it be us reaching deep into the wells of out own power and deciding what is worth giving away and what is best staying only ours?

The point is, there are ways to use this energy that aren’t so obvious. And with Mercury trining Uranus tomorrow, why not surprise yourself?

The bigger news is that, on Thursday, Mercury joins the Sun in Libra. Sure, that means Mercury leaving its favorite sign, but aren’t we all a little tired of feeling all aflutter? Enough mutable signs for a while! Let’s savor the ability to actually do something.

And do something we will.

On Sunday, Mars in Cancer will trine Saturn in Pisces. Our actions may be subtle, but they will be effective.

This reminds me of one of my favorite books from childhood, The Subtle Knife. A boy finds a knife and discovers that it is much more than meets the eye. With a combination of concentration and intuition, the boy is able to create incisions in the fabric of reality, allowing him to slip between worlds. He can remove himself from danger, lean himself to adventure, and even release people from their shackles.

That’s what this week is about. This week, we move forward, do our inner work, and find our freedom, all in one smooth motion.
