Valedictories and Lamentations - Transits for the week of November 4th

Welcome to the series on weekly transits, out every Monday afternoon!

This week starts with doing, and ends with believing.

Today, the Sun trines Saturn. We’re chugging along, doing the work we’re supposed to be doing. Washing machines are swirling away, we’re sitting at our computers typing, and we’re waiting to stand in line to vote tomorrow if we haven’t already. The beautiful part of this is that it’s not as exhausting and crushing as expected. This is a trine, after all. We can see that the work we’re doing is in line with who we are and what we want, so it’s easy to make it happen. Just follow your to-do list and you’ll sail into the rest of the week.

After today, there will be a buildup to Venus squaring Neptune. For those of us in the US, we might not know the results of our election right away. We might be full of dreams that we’ve finally prevailed or fears that all is lost. Neither is particularly constructive. It’s important to note that Venus moves out of this square and into Capricorn on Monday. We won’t be left in limbo for long. So maybe skip the valedictories and the lamentations until you know something for certain. This goes for your personal life as well. If you’re waiting on tenterhooks for the results of something, just keep waiting and maintain your neutrality as you wait for concrete reality.

This week, I am still in training at my new day job. I am completing an absurd assortment of assessments and sample work, and the results have been mixed. They’ve been good because I’m smart and quick and analytical, but less than stellar because numbers are less interesting to me than what they mean. They’ve been extremely slow to provide grades, so will I still have a job next Monday? I don’t know, and there’s nothing to do but keep doing my best and not get too in my head about it. And assuming I do have a job next Monday what will it be? I’ll be out of training and waiting to start client work. Will the actual job look anything like training? Will the workload be reasonable? Will the work be fascinating for mind-numbing? Will my client be a corporation I even want to help succeed? None of those answers are knowable. And as nice as it would be to get caught up in fantasies about what could be, the only thing that is truly useful is to keep my poker face and move forward when I can. Glamorous, no. Practical, yes.  

Overall, the transits this week leads us to do the work and then leave us in doubt about the results. It’s best to avoid the Neptune trap altogether and just remain neutral, but if you can’t try to err on the side of believing things will be good. As I stated in a previous post, dread is a waste of time.
